FAQs

What does it feel like to be in Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a state of heightened focus and profound relaxation. Importantly, there is no mind control involved; you maintain awareness of your surroundings and are in control throughout the entire experience. In fact, you are probably already familiar with hypnosis as it resembles the natural hypnotic states you encounter when daydreaming or being engrossed in a good movie. These are enjoyable, pleasant states where you drift into a relaxed state of mind.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on your goals. Hypnotherapy can provide noticeable results within just one to a few sessions for certain issues. However, for more complex and deep-rooted problems it may require several sessions before you can observe significant progress.

Will I lose control during hypnosis?

No. You remain fully in control and can come out of hypnosis at anytime. it’s a natural state similar to deep relaxation or daydreaming.

Where do the sessions take place?

All sessions take place online via Google Meet, allowing you to access support from the comfort of your own space. Many clients find that being in a familiar, relaxing environment like their own sofa or bed, actually helps them enter a deeper, more focused state during hypnosis.

Research shows that what matters most is your ability to feel safe, present, and undisturbed, which is often easier to achieve at home than in a clinic setting. All you need is a reliable internet connection, a quiet space where you won’t be interrupted, and a comfortable place to sit or lie down.

A small number of in-person appointments are available in central London if that is your preference. However, these are priced slightly higher to cover room hire.

Do I need to prepare anything before a session?

It helps to have a quiet, private space where you won’t be interrupted. You’ll also need a good internet connection, headphones if possible, and somewhere comfortable to sit or lie down. You don’t need to prepare any notes or materials in advance - just come as you are, with an openness to explore.

Will I remember what happened during hypnosis?

Yes, in most cases people remember everything. Hypnosis is not the same as sleep. You're in a relaxed but alert state, so while your attention is inwardly focused, you remain aware of the session and usually remember what was said or explored.

What is Hypno-EMDR and how is it different from regular EMDR?

Hypno-EMDR combines elements of clinical hypnosis with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). This integrative approach allows us to work gently but effectively with emotional processing, helping the nervous system release unprocessed material at a pace that feels manageable. The hypnotic element can support deeper focus, relaxation, and emotional safety, particularly when working with difficult or stuck experiences.

Note: I tailor this approach carefully depending on your needs - some sessions may involve Hypno-EMDR techniques, while others may focus more on classic hypnotherapy tools. Hypno-EMDR will only be included where we’ve discussed and agreed on it in advance.

Disclaimer: Hypno-EMDR is not a substitute for EMDR therapy provided by an accredited EMDR therapist. It is a hypnotherapy-based technique informed by principles of bilateral stimulation and neuroscience. If you are under the care of a mental health professional, please consult them before beginning any complementary therapy.
